After sorting out my library I have now decided I will keep a blog on trying to keep control on my classroom this year. I started off with sorting my library books into categories. I am teaching Senior Infants and First and wanted them to have a structure in using the library and one that didn't involve me having to sort it out on a regular basis.
So I placed all the books into, non- fiction, large storybooks, fairytales, gaeilge etc
The children will now each receive an clothes peg (wooden) with their name on it. When the child takes a book from the basket they place their peg on the basket and then return it to that basket. This is for their extra reading material as I will have a detailed record of their reading books and supplementary readers. I thought this was an easy solution and I have to thank Pinterest for giving it to me!!
